Sept 25, Colombo: A special discussion between President Ranil Wickramasinghe and representatives of the International Monetary Fund on the first review of the Extended Fund Facility is scheduled to be held tomorrow (26).
The review discussions to assess Sri Lanka’s progress regarding the implementation of the new economic reforms proposed by the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility had started on the 14th.
The Ministry of Finance stated that in this series of review discussions, more attention was paid to securing the second tranche of the Extended Credit Facility for Sri Lanka and increasing confidence in Sri Lanka's economic stability.
Accordingly, it is stated that the final meeting of this series of discussions which lasted for almost 2 weeks will be held tomorrow under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
After this discussion, a staff level agreement related to receiving the second tranche of $ 3 billion IMF Extended Fund Faculty is expected to be signed.
Meanwhile, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has scheduled to chair a crucial Cabinet meeting this afternoon to deliberate the details of the agreements.
