Sept 17, Colombo: A 06-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a shooting that took place near Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court this afternoon (17) has died.

According to the police, the father of the deceased child was the target of the shooting and the police stated that he is a prime suspect in a crime incident that took place in Kotahena area last year.

The target of the shooting was leaving the court after hearing of a case. He is a suspect in the incident of hacking a person to death in Kotahena area in November last year.

His wife and child were also traveling in the three-wheeler with him at the time of the shooting.

The police said that the shooting was done by two people who came on a motorcycle and fled.

The male person who was the target of the shooting and his 6-year-old female child were injured and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

However, the child, who was in a critical condition, died after being admitted to the National Hospital.

The Colombo Crime Division and several other investigative teams have started investigations into the incident.
