Sept 15, Colombo: Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sachithra Senanayake who was arrested on match-fixing charges was further remanded until the 25th September.
The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis, when Senanayake was presented before the court this morning (15 Sep.).
He was arrested on 06 September, on suspicion of a match-fixing incident and was remanded in custody after being produced before the court.
Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, who appeared on behalf of the Sports Corruption Investigation Division, stated that the suspect had presented a fake person to the investigation divisions.
The Deputy Solicitor General stated that although the suspect was submitted to the Government Analyst’s Department for a voice examination on the orders of the court, the examination could not be conducted due to a problem with the examination equipment of that department.
