Nov 20, Colombo: Four senior officials including the Director of Medical Supplies Department who were arrested in connection with the purchase of substandard immunoglobulin injection vials have been remanded until the 29th November.

Maligakanda Magistrate Mrs. Lochana Abeywickrama ordered the arrest of the four officials arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department when they were presented before the court today.

The Director of Medical Supply Division, Dr. Kapila Wickramanayake, Assistant Director Devasantha Solomon, Accountant (Supply) Neran Dhananjaya and Stock Controller Sujith Kumara have been remanded.

In relation to the incident of importing immunoglobulin antibody vaccines, the owner of the company that imported them, Sugath Janaka Fernando alias Aruna Deepti, is currently in remand custody and Kapila Wickramanayake was previously banned from traveling abroad.
