* Suspect who stabbed a police sergeant in Giriulla arrested

Nov 17, Colombo: A team of officers of the Giriulla Police has arrested the main suspect, who allegedly assaulted two police sergeants of the Giriulla Police traffic division and stabbed one of them, along with a live grenade.

The two police sergeants who were injured in the attack are receiving treatment at the Dambadeniya Hospital

The Police said the two police sergeants were engaged in traffic duty in Giriulla Samangala area when they signaled a suspicious three-wheeler to stop.

Despite the order the three-wheeler had sped away and the two police sergeants on a motorcycle had given chase and stopped the three-wheeler.

According to a senior police officer, when the Police officers have attempted to arrest the driver of the three-wheeler as he seems to be intoxicated, the three passengers have strongly objected and attacked the two sergeants.
