Nov 12, Colombo: The Chairman of the Central Environment Authority (CEA), Supun Shashendra Pathirage, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been suspended from service with immediate effect.
Three suspects, including the CEA chairman were arrested by the officers of the Bribery Commission last Friday (10) for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 10 million for a project being carried out by the CEA. They were alleged of accepting the bribe within the premises of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
The suspects were produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court Saturday (11) and remanded until Monday (13).
