* Sri Lanka’s Colombo-based inflation eases to 25.2 percent in May 2023

May 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka’s inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) deceased to 25.2 percent in May 2023 from 35.3 percent in April, the Department of Census and Statistics reported Wednesday.

The CCPI for all items for the month of May 2023 remained unchanged at 192.3.

The Year on Year inflation of Food Group decreased to 21.5 percent in May from 30.6 percent in April and the Year on Year inflation of Non Food Group increased to 27.0 percent in May 2023 from 37.6 percent in the previous month.

For the month of May 2023, on year‐to‐year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 7.02 percent and the contribution of Non Food items was 18.13 percent.
