* Jayani Natasha alleged of insulting Buddhism arrested at the airport

May 28, Colombo: The police say that Jayani Natasha Edirisuriya, who presented a video program called "Modabhimana" insulting the Buddhist religion, was arrested when she arrived at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport to leave for Singapore.

The Police Media Division says that a group of officers from the Colombo Computer Crime Investigation Division has arrested the woman.

The 31-year-old woman, a resident of Mount Lavinia, was arrested at the Katunayake airport departure terminal at around 01.20 this morning at the immigration and emigration premises.

At present, this woman has been taken to the Computer Crime Investigation Division, Narahenpita, Colombo and further investigations have been started.

Two complaints have been lodged against Edirisuriya who has allegedly given lectures disrespecting the Buddhist philosophy and culture.

Jamuni Kamanta Thushara, president of the Citizens' Organization Against Bribery, Corruption and Waste, has lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations department and Ven. Balangoda Kasyapa Thero had submitted a complaint to the police headquarters. The complainants stated that she should be arrested immediately.
