* Suspects in the death of the Kalutara student, tuition teacher who molested female students further remanded

May 26, Colombo: Kalutara Chief Magistrate Mrs. Nita Hemalee Halpandeniya today (26) ordered to further remand the four suspects who are currently remanded in custody in connection with the death of the 16-year-old schoolgirl who fell from a five-storey building in a lodge in Kalutara town, until June 9.

The magistrate further remanded the main suspect, who is said to be in the room with the girl when she fell from the five-storey building, a couple, 23 -year-old young man from Kalutara North area and a 19-year-old girl from Kalutara Nagoda area who accompanied her to the hotel, and a 19-year-old youth, resident of Walatara area in Beruwala, who is said to have driven the main suspect's car.

This order was given after the suspects were presented again to the Kalutara Magistrate's Court today (26).

Kalutara Chief Magistrate Mrs. Nita Hemalee Halpandeniya also ordered today (26) to further remand the tuition teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting a group of female students in his tuition class in Kalutara and is currently in remand prison.

A 30-year-old man named Vidanaarachchi Sanka Thivanka Jayawickrama, a resident of Subhasadhaka Mawatha, Kalutara North, was further remanded in custody until June 9, when he was presented in court today.

The mobile phone and laptop used by the suspect have not yet been handed over to the police, and the police asked the court to allow them to go to the prison and record his statement.
