May 26, Colombo: Former Mayor of Colombo Mrs. Rosy Senanayake has been appointed as Advisor to the President on Local Government Affairs.

This appointment has been made by President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Mrs. Senanayake, who served as the Minister of State for Children's Affairs during the Good Governance Government, also served as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Malaysia from 2002 -2004.

She contested Local Government Election in 2018 and became the Mayor of Colombo. She held the post until the local government bodies were dissolved earlier this year.

Mrs. Rosy Senanayake was crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 1980 and Mrs. World in 1985.
