May 26, Colombo: The Ambalangoda police say that a deputy principal of Ambalangoda Dharmashoka Vidyalaya has been injured in a shooting that took place early in the morning today in the Randombe area of Ambalangoda.
The police say that the person who was shot is a resident of Migettuwatte in Balapitiya and the shooting took place when the he was coming to work at Dharmashoka School.
Two unidentified gunmen who came on a motorcycle have shot at the teacher who was also going to work on a motorcycle and fled. The teacher who sustained injuries has ridden his motorcycle to the police.
The police say that the reason for this shooting has not yet been revealed and this is the second shooting that took place in Ambalangoda within twelve hours.
According to the Ambalangoda Police a similar shooting took place in Adadola area of Watughedara last night (25th).
The police say that this shooting was aimed at the main suspect in the murder of Ambalangoda millionaire businessman Halambage Pemasiri, who is currently on bail.
The shooting has taken place while he was riding a motorcycle with his son to a wedding held in a neighboring house.
The police say that two unidentified gunmen who came on a motorcycle have carried out this shooting and the main suspect in Halambage Pemasiri murder has jumped off the motorcycle he was riding and escaped with his child to a nearby ditch when the shots were aimed at him.
Ambalangoda Police are conducting further investigations.
