* Unidentified gunman shoots a 35-year-old man dead in Hambantota

May 22, Colombo: A father of one has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen who came on a motorcycle at Suchi village in Hambantota last night, police said.

The victim was identified as a 35-year-old man named Hakmana Koditutukkuge Sagara.

He was shot while riding a motorcycle with his wife and child.

The victim, who was seriously injured in the shooting attack, died while being taken to the Hambantota District General Hospital, police said.

According to police information, the deceased had been in jail for killing a person and had come out on bail a few days ago. It has been revealed that there are several cases pending against the victim including a case of murder.
