Sun, May 21, 2023, 09:57 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 21, Colombo: The body of Janashakthi Insurance Group Director Dinesh Schaffter is scheduled to be exhumed on Thursday, May 25.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said armed police security has been provided to the burial site in the Borella Public Cemetery. Four officers of Borella Police have been deployed for that purpose.

On May 19, Colombo Additional Magistrate Mrs. Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered the Criminal Investigations Department to provide necessary facilities to the five-member special judicial committee appointed to determine the cause of Janashakthi Group Director Dinesh Schaffter’s death to exhume his body for further investigations.

The five-member committee was appointed to determine the cause of Mr. Schaffter's death, as there were contradictions between the original version of the post-mortem report and the final detailed report related to the businessman’s death. The five-member expert panel has informed the court that based on the evidence obtained in relation to the investigations conducted so far, the panel has decided to exhume the body and conduct a new post-mortem examination.
