* Examination Department plans to hold GCE O/L and A/L exams on usual schedule from next year
Sun, May 21, 2023, 10:57 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 21, Colombo: Commissioner General of Examinations Amita Jayasundara says the Examination Department plans to conduct the GCE ordinary level and advanced level examinations at the same time as before from next year.

Due to the Covid pandemic, the schedule for conducting these exams got delayed considerably. Accordingly, the 2022 GCE Ordinary Level Examination will be held on 29 May 2023.

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha also mentioned that to avoid the delayed schedules, attention has been paid to many activities including reducing the school vacation period and allocating more time to cover the subjects.

In an inquiry about this, the Commissioner General of Examinations said due to the delay in the evaluation of the answer sheets of the A/L Examination, the 2023 O/L Examination will be held in March or April 2024.

However they plan to hold the 2024 A/L Examination in August and the 2024 O/L Examination in December as usual, the official said.

Commissioner General Jayasundara said the 2022 (2023) GCE Advanced Level answer sheet evaluation is being done at the moment, and it will even continue on the regular GCE Ordinary Level exam days starting from the 29th of this month. The Department will try to release the Advanced Level results in August, he said.

2022 (2023) GCE Ordinary Level Examination will be held from 29th May to 8th June at 3568 examination centers.

The Examination Department says that the admission cards and timetable of the school applicants have been mailed to the principals of the respective schools and those of the private applicants have been sent to the address mentioned in the application.
