Mar 21, Colombo: The Wellawaya Police say that four residents of Kattankudi and Akkaraipattu who went to bathe in Ellewela Falls in Wellawaya have gone missing and are presumed to have drowned.

The tragedy has happened when a group of 10 people, who came to visit the falls went to bathe there.

The police say bathing in the falls is dangerous and 13 people have died in this place on previous occasions.

For this reason, the place was closed to tourists for some time and the accident happened shortly after it was reopened, the police said.
