* Wanted suspect ’Booru Muna’ arrested

Mar 17, Colombo: Wanted criminal Ravindu Sanka de Silva alias ‘Booru Moona’, who was involved in several murders and escaped while in the custody of the Katunayake airport police, has been arrested by the police.

He was arrested in Avissawella area while coming to surrender to the Avissawella court.

Ravindu Sanka de Silva has been accused of shooting and killing an owner of a restaurant in Hanwella area on December 18 last year. He is also believed to have been the gunman in a number of other killings.

On February 24, the immigration officers of Katunayake Airport arrested him and handed him over to the airport police while trying to go abroad secretly, but the suspect escaped from police custody with the help of two Buddhist monks.

The Avissawella High Court on March 15 again imposed a travel ban on the suspect after considering the submissions presented by the Western Province South police division.
