Fri, Mar 17, 2023, 11:03 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 17, Colombo: All the heads of government corporations and departments have informed the Ministry of Finance that they will immediately transfer the existing accounts at the People’s Bank to other banks.

In addition, many private businessmen have also verbally informed President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of Finance that if problems continue to arise due to strikes etc., their business activities may be affected, and unfortunately they will have to withdraw their accounts from the People’s Bank.

The heads of corporations and departments have informed the Finance Minister President Ranil Wickramasinghe that they had to face many problems due to their inability to maintain their financial affairs since the employees of the People’s Bank also joined the strike Wednesday (15).

The heads of public corporations and departments have explained to the Ministry of Finance that their employees who went to the People’s Banks could not take money for official need, and therefore the clients were inconvenienced by having to look for other alternative ways.

Therefore, the heads of corporations and departments have also requested the Ministry of Finance to take necessary steps to remove their accounts from the People’s Bank and transfer them to other banks, considering it a necessary matter.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe as the Finance Minister has informed the relevant authorities at the Ministry of Finance yesterday (16) to pay special attention to the request made by the heads of government corporations and departments.
