* Drug traffickers ‘Harak Kata’ and ‘Kudu Salindu’ brought to Sri Lanka

Mar 15, Colombo: Underworld gang leaders Nadun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata and Panadura Salidu Lakshita alias Kudu Salindu who were staying abroad and directing criminal activities in Sri Lanka have been brought to Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (15) from Madagascar by a group of Criminal Investigation Department officials.

They have been brought to Katunayake Airport by SriLankan Airlines flight UL-142 from Mumbai, India at 07.10 this morning.

Their immigration and other essential duties were carried out near the plane, and steps were taken to take them through the airport air cargo terminal and directly to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters.

Also, two security officers from the state of Madagascar had come with the two criminal gang leaders, and those officers had come to the premises of the Immigration Department and had officially handed them over to Sri Lankan authorities in writing.

A team of officers from the Colombo Crime Division, Organized Crime Investigation Unit arrived at the Katunayake Airport air cargo terminal in about 06 vehicles to pick up the two suspects.

Strict security was deployed in the Katunayake airport, in the surrounding area and on both sides of the road for taking them to Colombo.

Eight people, including the two international drug traffickers who went to Madagascar in a private jet on February 12, posing as wealthy men, were arrested at Iwato Airport in Madagascar on the 1st of March by Malagasy authorities. They were arrested when they arrived at the airport to leave Madagascar.

A team of four officers of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Police Special Task Force (STF) left for Madagascar on Saturday, March 11, had taken Harak Kata and Kudu Salindu into their custody yesterday (13).
