Wed, Jun 7, 2023, 11:25 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 07, Colombo: The Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara informed the National Labor Advisory Council that a summary of the proposals currently being presented to prepare a unified labor legal system will be presented on June 14th.

Minister Nanayakkara made this disclosure when the National Labor Advisory Council met yesterday evening under his chairmanship.

The minister said the discussion for obtaining proposals for the preparation of a new labor legal system is held every week in the Ministry Auditorium and the preparation of a draft bill will be started after presenting the summary of the proposals submitted to it. That rough draft will be submitted to the National Labor Advisory Council, the Minister said.

Meanwhile, the minister pointed out the importance of convening the National Labor Advisory Council monthly.

The National Labor Advisory Council also agreed to appoint a committee to look into and take necessary measures if there is any field not represented in the trade union representation by the National Labor Advisory Council

Meanwhile, the National Labor Advisory Council also approved the appointment of a female trade union representative with more representation as the trade unions did not have a women’s representation to the National Labor Advisory Council.
