* Two new monkeypox cases detected in Sri Lanka

June 07, Colombo: A woman and a small child have been diagnosed with monkeypox virus in Sri Lanka.

The Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena said a woman and her daughter, who have arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai, have tested positive for monkeypox after arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

They have been referred to National Institute of Infectious Diseases Hospital for further treatment.

The Ministry of Health stated that the rest of their family members were also tested and kept in isolation.
