* Illegal cannabis cultivations in Yala reserve raided, four arrested

June 04, Colombo: The Police Special Task Force (STF) officers have raided two cannabis plantation in the Yala reserve and arrested four individuals Sunday.

Following the information received by the officers of the Buttala camp of the Special Task Force, the raid was carried out in the Gonaganara Tammitakanda Yala reserve area.

The officers have found 42,000 cannabis plants cultivated on an acre and a half acre plots of land.

The STF arrested four suspects in connection with the cannabis cultivations and seized a locally made 12-bore firearm found in their possession.
