Jan 27, Colombo: The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has again sent a letter to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) asking them to refrain from disconnecting the electricity during the period of GCE A/L exam up to February 17.
The Chairman of the Public Utility Commission, Janaka Ratnayake, points out in the letter that it is everyone's responsibility to protect the human rights of 331,709 students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level Examination.
He further says that the Public Utilities Commission will not give the approval to the Ceylon Electricity Board to disconnect the power during the period from January 26 to February 17.
It is stated in the letter that the Ceylon Electricity Board will be legally responsible if the electricity is cut off during that period.
