Jan 24, Colombo: The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade have jointly prepared a price formula for determining the price of eggs and chicken meat.

This price formula has been prepared by a committee consisting of the secretaries of the two relevant ministries.

Director General of Animal Production and Health Department, Dr. Hemali Kothalawala said that until now the price calculations were done by the Department of Animal Production and Health, but according to a decision taken in the parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), the price formula prepared by both parties jointly with the Consumer Affairs Authority will be submitted to the COPE Committee

She also said that since the price of animal feed has come down, the price of eggs and chicken are expected to go down further in the future.
