Jan 24, Colombo: The Kollupitiya Police has arrested Secretary of Electricity Users Association Sanjeewa Dhammika and Convener of Samagi United Trade Union Alliance Ananda Palitha on charges of threatening two members of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).
The Police Media Spokesperson's Office said that the two were arrested last night on charges of threatening two members of the Public Utilities Commission, using criminal coercion and obstructing the duties of members of the said commission.
The Kollupitiya Police had begun an investigation following a complaint lodged by the Vice Chairman of the PUCSL Udeni Wickramasinghe and member Mohan Samaranayake alleging that they were threatened by several trade union representatives, when they went to the Commission premises in Kollupitiya on the invitation of the Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake for a meeting on the 20th January.
