Jan 20, Colombo: The National Election Commission has informed that the Local Government Election will be held on the 9th of March 2023.

The period given for submission of nominations for political parties and independent groups for the Local Government polls ended today at 12 noon.

Nominations were accepted for election since Wednesday, the 18th of January.

By the time given for placing deposits ended at 12 noon yesterday, 46 recognized political parties and 113 independent groups have paid the deposits.

The official announcement issued by the Election Commission states that the deposits had been palced for 24 districts.
