* Aragalaya activist Randimal Gamage arrested

Jan 05, Colombo: A prominent activist of the ‘Aragalaya’ anti-government protest movement, Randimal Gamage has been arrested this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

Katunayake airport police officers arrested the Aragalaya activist at the arrival terminal of Katunayake airport today (05) when he arrived from Dubai this morning.

Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said Gamage was arrested at the request of the Cinnamon Garden police under the charge of illegally entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) on 13 July 2022 during anti-government protests and causing damage to government property.

Randimal Gamage, 32, a resident of Karapitiya, Galle is a development officer in the Ministry of Public Administration and a graduate of Sri Jayewardenepura University.
