* Police arrest three with a stock of Kerala Cannabis worth Rs. 50 million in Mannar

Sept 28, Colombo: The officers of the Mannar Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) arrested three persons, who were transporting 166 kilos of Kerala Cannabis which had been brought to Mannar from India by sea, in a cab. The stock of Kerala Cannabis is estimated to be worth over Rs. 50 million.

Police say the arrested suspects are residents of Welioya and one of them is a Sinhalese and the other two are Tamils.

The cannabis stock in 56 bags was hidden in a secret compartment made in the back of the cab.

During interrogation, the arrested suspects have said that they were taking the stock of Cannabis to Trincomalee. But the police believe that this cannabis was being transported to Colombo. The Police Narcotics Bureau says further investigations are underway in this regard.
