* SLPP suspends party membership of PS member arrested for Thambuttegama heist

Sept 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary Parliamentarian Sagara Kariyawasam said today (28) that the party membership of Rajanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha member of the party, who was arrested in connection with the robbery of Rs. 22 million in Thambuttegama area, will be suspended.

Mr. Kariyawasam said that a local council member of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has been arrested for that incident and also said that he has also requested a report from the police regarding the incident.

The General Secretary also said that according to the progress of the police investigations, if there is an allegation against him in the future, he will be removed from the position of the local council member.
