Sept 09, Colombo: Lahiru Weerasekara, who was a leading figure in the ‘Aragalaya’ protest movement, has been arrested by the Maradana police.

He has been arrested in connection with an investigation into obstructing the police officers during a protest held in Maradana area on August 30.

Lahiru Weerasekera, a former convener of the Inter-University Student Federation played an active role in the ‘Aragalaya’ anti-government protests held at Galle Face for over four months.
