* Minister of Power and Energy, UNDP discuss COP27

Oct 27, Colombo: Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has met with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) team in Sri Lanka to discuss the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) to be held in Egypt.

The Minister on Twitter said Sri Lanka’s renewable energy policies, E-mobility, fossil fuel subsidies, and financial assistance for implementing green goals were discussed.

The Minister and UNDP team have also discussed plans for the power and energy sectors.

The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP27, will be held from 6 to 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Heads of State, ministers and negotiators, along with climate activists, mayors, civil society representatives and CEOs will meet in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the largest annual gathering on climate action.
