* Rumors circulating about trimming government employees’ salaries are false - State Minister
Sun, Oct 2, 2022, 09:59 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 02, Colombo: State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the government has not taken any decision to cut the salaries of public servants and reports that the salaries of government employees will be cut in half are completely false.

The Minister mentioned that some people are carrying out this kind of campaign in an organized manner in order to unsettle the people of the country.

Confirming that the rumors spread on social media regarding the salaries of public servants are false, the state minister further says that it is the government's responsibility to secure the jobs of public servants.

A fake news circulated on social media in the past few days stating that Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena has announced that government employees will be given half of their salary from this month.

Commenting on the matter, State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated that it is normal for such rumors to be created due to the economic crisis in the country.
