* Over Rs. 60 million worth drugs seized on the Southern Expressway

Oct 02, Colombo: Police have found over 3 kilograms of heroin during the inspection of a Montero car in the Walahanduwa area of the Southern Expressway.

The driver of the car has fled and investigations have been started to arrest him.

Two officers attached to the Akmeemana Police during night patrol have inspected a Montero car traveling on the Dewata entrance road of the Southern Expressway.

When the police were checking a bag in the car, the person in the car has pushed the police officer aside and run away.

During the inspection of that bag, 3 kilos of heroin were found and the police said that its value exceeds Rs. 60 million.

The police suspect that there is a racket in which drugs are brought to Galle area and given to dealers as samples.

Fake number plates were installed on the car and the suspect has been identified as a 27-year-old resident of Panadura area.
