* Eight arrested with drugs during a Facebook party in Weligama

Nov 28, Colombo: Officers of the Weligama Police Station have succeeded in arresting eight suspects after raiding a party organized through Facebook on Weligama beach.

The Police Media Spokesperson's Office said that the raid was carried out based on information received that the party goers are using drugs and narcotic pills.

Investigations have revealed that the party in question was organized through Facebook.

Police said the suspects, aged between 20 and 30 years, were in possession of cannabis and narcotic pills at the time of the arrest.

The arrested individuals are residents of Weligama, Ranala, Tissamaharama, Kananke, Telijjawila, Wanchawala and Beliatta.

Police said they were produced before the Matara Magistrate and released on bail.

The Weligama Police is conducting further investigations.
