* Sri Lanka Navy seizes Kerala Cannabis worth over Rs. 07 million held in Nachchikuda, Mannar

Nov 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy has held a lorry transporting over 24kg of Kerala Cannabis and apprehended two suspects, during a search operation carried out in Nachchikuda, Mannar Tuesday.

The coordinated search operation was mounted by SLNS Buwaneka in the North Central Naval Command with the assistance of Illuppukadawai Police in Nachchikuda area this morning (22nd November).

The search of the suspicious lorry intercepted at the Wellankulam roadblock resulted in the recovery of 12 packages containing about 24kg and 200g of Kerala Cannabis from the lorry.

Accordingly, the lorry, the consignment of Kerala Cannabis and two suspects in connection to the incident were taken into custody.

The gross street value of the stock of Kerala Cannabis held in this operation is believed to be over Rs. 07million.

The suspects were identified as residents of Vavuniya, aged 37 and 45. The accused together with Kerala cannabis and the lorry were handed over to the Illuppukadawai Police for onward legal action.
