* Two main suspects in three murders killed in a shootout with STF

Nov 18, Colombo: The two main suspects involved in the shooting and killing of three people in the areas of Elpitiya, Uragaha and Yakkalamulla have been killed in a shootout with the Police Special Task Force (STF).

The police say that the two suspects were accomplices of a Sri Lankan drug trafficker Uragaha Indika living overseas.

According to information received by the Special Raid Unit of the STF Headquarters Camp that the two suspects involved in the murders are hiding in a house in Minuwangoda, Japalawatta area, the officers have raided the house early this morning.

At that time, the suspects have shot at the raiding team and the STF officers have returned fire seriously injuring the two suspects.

The Special Task Force said the suspects died while being admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital.

The two suspects, identified as Milan Kosala and Gamage Diluka, are residents of Galle Poddala area. Officers have seized a T-56 type firearm and a 12-bore type weapon along with a Rambo knife from the place where they were staying.

The police say the deceased are the main suspects in the two incidents of the shooting death of a person at a hair salon in Uragasman Junction area on August 24 and the shooting deaths of a four-year-old child and the child’s father on October 19 in Yakkalamulla area. In both incidents the two suspects have been the gunmen on a motorcycle.

A special task force officer who was slightly injured in the exchange of fire was admitted to Minuwangoda Hospital for treatment.
