Dec 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Friday said it will take legal action against three individuals who have made false allegations against the cricket board and its President.
Issuing statement, the SLC said having given due consideration to the gravity of the unsubstantiated and malicious allegations impugning the good name and integrity Sri Lanka Cricket, and its President, Mr. Shammi Silva, the Executive Committee of SLC, has instructed its legal counsel to take swift, and appropriate legal action against three individuals namely Asela Sampath, Sanjaya Mahawatta and other individual who appeared before the media recently, making the said false and malicious statement.
The SLC said an article had first appeared in a tabloid/gossip website Lanka Enews dated 25th November and another news item had been published on Hiru News, titled “විදෙස් සංචාරවලට කාන්තාවන් අරන් ගිහින් ෂම්මි සිල්වා සැප ගත්තේ කාගේ සල්ලි වලින්ද?”
Accordingly, SLC has sent Letters of Demand claiming 500 million rupees from each individual as damages for the reputational losses that occurred to Sri Lanka Cricket and its officials by the said false and derogatory statement.
