Nov 30, Colombo: The Court of Appeal ordered the hearing of a petition filed against the price control of eggs on December 14.
The petition filed by the Egg Producers Association seeks the court to order an annulment of the gazette notification issued by the Consumer Afffairs Authority recently fixing a control price for the sale of eggs.
When the petition was called Wednesday before a bench comprising Judges Prasantha de Silva and A. B. Swarnadhipathi, the Additional Solicitor General Sumathi Dharmawardena, appearing for the respondents, informed the court that after receiving updated information about eggs from the Food Safety Committee, the Consumer Affairs Authority will reconsider the current control price for eggs.
After considering the respondents’ submission the Court of Appeal ordered that the petition be heard on December 14.
