* Chinese Ship Yuan Wang 5 docks in Sri Lanka’s Hambanthota Port
Tue, Aug 16, 2022, 09:54 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 16, Colombo: Chinese Scientific Research Ship Yuan Wang 5 has arrived at Sri Lanka’s Hambantota Port Tuesday (16) morning.

Sri Lankan port officials and Chinese officials from the ship company welcomed the Yuan Wang 5 at the Hambantota port.

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had recently given permission for this ship to anchor at the Hambantota port from today until the 22nd of this month after requesting to defer the visit from the earlier scheduled dates.

The Yuan Wang 5 was scheduled to pay a port call at the port of Hambantota from 11-17 August, 2022 for replenishment purposes but the Sri Lankan government had requested the Chinese government to delay its arrival due to security concerns raised by India.
