Aug 15, Colombo: The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered that Dhanish Ali, who was arrested for forcibly entering the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and disrupting the broadcast, be released on bail.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe released the suspect on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two personal sureties of Rs. 500,000 each, when he was produced before the court today (15).
On July 13, Danish Ali along with one of his aides had forcibly entered the national television Rupavahini and threatening the journalists and the staff, has disrupted the scheduled TV program on air to broadcast his own message.
He had taken over the scheduled talk show and had told the anchor and audience that they had taken over the station on behalf of the people.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police arrested Ali on July 26 on a warrant at the airport when he was attempting to flee the country.
