* STF arrests leading gunman of Harak Kata’s criminal gang

Aug 15, Colombo: The Police Special Task Force has arrested the leading gunman of the organized criminal and large-scale drug trafficker Nandun Chinthaka alias "Harak Kata" yesterday (14) in Boralasgamuwa area.

The arrested person is identified as 27-year-old Praboda Kumara alias "Kadira". He has been accused of several murders, the police said.

The Police Special Task Force has also uncovered information that Kadira, a resident of Weligama Midigama area, is staying in Boralasgamuwa area with the intention of committing a crime.

The Police Special Task Force also seized a firearm and heroin that were in his possession at the time of the arrest.

The Police Special Task Force says that he has been identified as the one who shot a person named ‘Chuti Mama’ on the 5th of April this year and Roshan aka Jacka on May 14 in Weligama area.

The suspect has been handed over to the Matara Police Division Crime Unit for further investigation.
