* Sri Lanka reports nine Covid-19 deaths and 162 new cases on Friday

Aug 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Friday reported nine deaths due to COVID-19 after the figures were confirmed by the Director General of Health Services on Thursday, August 11.

Among the deaths reported today, are 06 males and 03 females. While five of the deaths are of elderly people in the 60 years and above age group, 03 males and one female in the between 30-59 years age group also succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, another 162 people infected with Covid-19 have been identified today (12).

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in February 2020, Sri Lanka has reported 667,735 infections and 16,614 deaths to date.
