Aug 06, Colombo: Chairman of the Litro Gas Company Muditha Peiris has said that the price of Liquefied Petroleum (LP) gas will be reduced from midnight Monday.
It is reported that the price of a 12.5 kg domestic gas cylinder may be reduced by more than 200 rupees according to the price formula for gas introduced by the Ministry of Finance and the Consumer Affairs Authority.
However, the Litro chairman has earlier said that the price of gas will be reduced after today.
Peiris has also claimed that Sri Lanka that the company has enough gas stocks to ensure that queues will not be formed in the future and added that gas orders have been placed to have sufficient gas until October. He also explained that shipments for August, September and October have been confirmed.
The Chairman noted that the positive aspect of the price formula is that benefits of gas prices reducing in the world market will be granted to the public.
Litro chairman pointed out that if a gas ship is unable to unload gas due to bad weather conditions or any other natural reason, there may be a delay of one or two days.
Otherwise, he emphasized that all necessary measures have been taken to provide gas continuously without shortage or queues. The chairman further stated that gas ships have been ordered and confirmed as required.
