Aug 06, Colombo: The Wattala police found an unidentified dead body with the victim’s hands and feet bound floating on the Dikowita beach in Wattala, Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Thalduwa said.

The victim’s head and the feet were found enclosed in two white plastic bags and tied, the police said.

The police media spokesman said that the bags have been identified as bags used to store ice by fishermen who go to sea to catch fish.

Accordingly, the media spokesman said it is suspected that the killing was the result of an incident between a group of fishermen.

Police said that the deceased was estimated to be between 35 and 40 years of age.

The victim’s identity is yet to be confirmed, while the preliminary Magisterial Inquest has been conducted.

The body is placed at the Ragama Hospital for the post mortem to be conducted today.

The Wattala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
