* Education Ministry announces change in conducting schools next week

Aug 05, Colombo: The Ministry of Education has announced a change in the days of schools in session for next week.

All government and government-approved schools will continue to function during regular hours for three days per week from Aug 08 -12, the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

Since Thursday 11 August 2022 is a public holiday for the full moon Poya Day, schools will deliver in-person lessons on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, instead of the schedule followed over the past few weeks.

In the next week, the schools will conduct academic activities on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and will provide home-based activities to students or conduct online teaching activities on Friday.

According to the agreement of principals and teachers of schools that are not affected by transportation difficulties, with the approval of the regional director of education, schools will also be held on Fridays and a flexible schedule will be prepared so that every teacher can come to school at least three days a week and carry out teaching activities.
