Aug 04, Colombo: Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered today (04) to remand Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, who was arrested by the Fort Police for violating court orders, until the 12th.

Yesterday (03), the Colombo Fort Police arrested the suspect Mr. Joseph Stalin for violating the order issued by the court in connection with the alleged incident of causing public distress by participating in the protest held on May 28th at Ceylon Bank Mawatha.

The Fort Police presented the facts to the court that the suspect has acted in violation of the order issued by the court regarding the protest.

Accordingly, the Fort Police brought the suspect to the Magistrate’s house tonight (04), and after considering the facts presented there, the Magistrate ordered to remand the suspect until the 1th of August.
