May 29, Colombo: The Ministry of Power and Energy states that it will cost an additional US $ 100 million per month to provide uninterrupted power supply from June 01.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said the Ceylon Electricity Board has requested 31,000 metric tons of diesel, 63,000 metric tons of fuel oil and 11,000 metric tons of naphtha fuel per month.
The Minister stated that steps will be taken to obtain the relevant funds expeditiously in consultation with the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said steps will be taken to provide relief for the importation of batteries used for solar panels.
Meanwhile, the Public Utilities Commission said there will be no power cuts today.
