May 27, Colombo: The Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles has emphasized that the officers of the Sri Lanka Police should carry out their duties legally and assured that as the Minister every police officer who does so will be given protection.

He was speaking at a discussion held at the Ministry of Public Security in Suhurupaya, Battaramulla yesterday (26) with the Inspector General of Police, Senior DIG and senior police officers.

The Minister also instructed the police to coordinate with the relevant agencies on legal issues faced by the police in carrying out their duties and to provide immediate solutions.

He also said that the Sri Lanka Police should seek the assistance of the Armed Forces in difficult situations.
