May 23, Colombo: The 21st Amendment to the Constitution is due to be presented to the Cabinet today (23).
Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Minister of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Reforms says the 21st Amendment to the Constitution will be presented to the Cabinet for approval today.
The new Amendment will include clauses that reduce the powers of the executive presidency and prevent people with dual citizenship from holding parliamentary seats.
The Minister said that as soon as the Cabinet approves the bill, it will be presented to Parliament and steps will be taken to get it passed.
