* Saman Ekanayake appointed as Secretary to the new Prime Minister

May 12, Colombo: Saman Ekanayake has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ekanayake received his letter of appointment from the Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath at the President’s House in Colombo this afternoon (12).

Mr. Saman Ekanayake is a Special Grade Retired Officer in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.

He has been the Secretary to the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe three times during the period 2015-2019 and has been appointed to the post for the fourth time.

He holds a first degree from the University of Peradeniya and a postgraduate degree in Public Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

He has served as a SLAS officer for over 30 years in the Ministries of Youth Affairs, Sports, Samurdhi, Housing, Industry, Foreign Affairs and Finance as well as in the Sri Lankan High Commissions in Malaysia and London.
