June 26, Colombo: The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will provide practical solutions to the nearly 60,000 victims of political retaliation within the first six months of coming to power, Leader of Opposition and SJB Sajith Premadasa said.

The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa was addressing the Gampaha District meeting of the series of SJB District committees to provide relief to the victims of political retaliation today (26).

Premadasa noted that although he was in government only on two occasions, nearly 60,000 people were subjected to political retaliation during his time in the opposition.

Although the present government has said that it will do justice to the victims of political retaliation when it is in opposition and the election season is approaching, they have not been given due justice so far.

The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa further stated that during his tenure as the Minister of Housing, 90 percent of the requests and appeals of the victims of political retaliation were resolved under a special program and thanked all those who committed to the cause.

The Special Convention on Political Revenge was chaired by Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa. The event held at Guruge Nature Park was attended by a large number of victims of political revenge.
